I've presided over several (now defunct and deleted) blogs but, on the spurring of my wife, I've decided to start a new blog to expound upon things that deserve more than 140 characters.
I created my first blog in 1998 using a Geocities account but didn't really jump into the medium until around 2003. I really started getting into it around the time when George W. Bush was up for re-election. I never quite reached the level of an Atrios or a DailyKos but I managed to gain a small following. After too long, though, I became disenchanted with my blogging peers. I found that I didn't really have much in common with the Democratic activists who made blogs famous and semi-legitimate. Thus, I became what amounted to a troll and eventually just gave up on blogging.
I still maintain many opinions on many subjects but rarely speak out on them. I've found that, like religion, sometimes politics is best left not talked about. I wouldn't want someone to dislike me simply because of a political leaning I have and sometimes I'd rather not find out that you're a bible-thumping conservative who wants to turn the bible into a legal document. But, I've found that I need some type of outlet to express myself in these strange times. So, I'll simply post what I want and you can take it how you want. I'm not out to get famous or recognized here. I'm just here out of a desire to create something and provide an outlet for my view of the world around me. And maybe you'll look at something in a new way or just laugh. That's my only reasoning for posting what I think publicly.
And if you disagree with me, know that I respect your opinion and remind yourself that I represent one opinion among billions of others. I don't pretend to speak for any group of people. I only speak for myself.
With that, here's another blog.
